Will Lorenz - Why Silicone Roof Coatings are Dominating

Roofing Roadtrip with Will Lorenz
March 10, 2022 at 9:00 a.m.

By Evelyn Witterholt, RCS Reporter.

Join Heidi as she speaks with Will Lorenz about the growing market of silicone roof products.

In Season 4, Episode 11 of Roofing Road Trips, Heidi J. Ellsworth speaks with Will Lorenz, VP of sales at EVERROOF. The two discussed the new EVERROOF silicone plant and how useful silicone roof products can be to roofing contractors.

Since EVERROOF was founded, the company has been producing innovative roof coatings, particularly for roofs in hot and dry climates. Their vision has always been to produce a coating that can be used to repair the roofs of buildings without tearing them off. They’ve recently begun seeing so much growth in the market of silicone roofing products that they have a new silicone plant up in Texas that will be operational the second quarter of this year.

Will says that the durability and high-performing qualities of silicone coatings have led to its growth in the current market. “Silicone has natural resistance to water and a good resistance to UV,” he says. “Manufacturers of roof coatings have figured out how to improve upon it and come up with high-solids material that are low VOC and can be installed pretty much by any level of sophisticated roofing contractor.”

Regarding supply chain issues within the industry, Will says that like all other roofing products, silicone coatings are in high demand. As newer construction membranes became unavailable, people turned to cost-effective solutions like silicone for their roofing projects. He hopes that the supply chain problems stabilize throughout the year but that there are a lot of factors to consider if it will.

“We want to see more roofs being restored with silicone, and we want to see EVERROOF spread across the country,” Will says. “Right now, people, they want their places watertight, and we're prepared to do the best we can to give them the product to work.”
