On a recent episode of the Roofing Road Trips Podcast, Heidi J. Ellsworth sat down with Troy Ferreira, technical director for the Canadian Roofing Contractors Association (CRCA), to discuss the upcoming ROOFTech Expo and what the event will have in store for attendees.
As for the role and duties of CRCA, Tony explained, “The CRCA has been the voice of the Canadian roofing industry since 1960... We promote collaboration within the industry from coast to coast, and we represent and we defend our members' interests, both professionally and technically, to succeed in business. CRCA provides members with access to services and benefits, including things like advocacy, technical support, legal support, industry programs, business practice support. So, we're there to support our members in any way necessary.”
Troy is excited about what’s in store for this year’s RoofTech Expo, which the Canadian Roofing Contractors Association sponsors.
ROOFTech is Canada’s premiere trade show that is dedicated to the roofing, construction and property management industries. The expo is designed to provide educational and networking opportunities to members of the community and a place to both demonstrate your company’s latest technology and interact with the products and offerings of other businesses in the industry. The 2023 show will take place April 4-5, and Troy is excited about what’s in store for this year’s RoofTech Expo for those attending from the roofing industry.
“There's going to be mockups of everything from modified bitumen systems, the built-up roof systems to single-ply roof systems, green roof systems, and steep slope systems. So, you'll really be able to get a feel, you'll be able to see, you'll be able to touch,” he elaborated. “So, it's a great opportunity for people to see what commercial roofing is all about... there's so much more that goes on in the commercial roofing industry that nobody gets to see what's going on way up there on those big buildings because it's out of sight and it's out of mind. There's really a lot that goes into the commercial roofing industry.”
ROOFTech traditionally takes place every other year, however, due to COVID, this will be the first expo they have been able to host in the last four years. Since 2019, there have been many advancements and breakthroughs in roofing technology, and it is incredibly exciting to have the opportunity to bring the community together once more.
