Heidi J. Ellsworth road trips across the country to visit with Scott Seaton and Tom Christner of Rocket Equipment in Season 4, Episode 8 of the Roofing Road Trips podcast to learn the story behind Scott’s development of the Trash Rocket, the commercial-grade trash chutes that are a game changer for roofing companies.
These trash chutes are designed to remove roofing materials and construction debris fast, helping contractors increase their profit by saving crews setup time, tear-off time and clean up time.
“It all started pretty simple. I was putting a new roof on my house and it had a bunch of concrete tile on there,” says inventor Scott Seaton. “I did not want to just throw it off the edge and ruin all the landscaping and do all that, which is always the problem. So we kind of came up with a chute thing in the front and it worked so well that I just thought, ‘You know what? This could be something that could work in the roofing company on the commercial side.’”
Trash Rocket was designed by roofers, for roofers, created to solve traditional trash chute problems by helping you reach over landscaping and canopies, extend to hard-to-reach areas or simply to replace the trash chutes of the past with a new innovation that is here to save you time, money and labor.
“Slate is very, very difficult to clean up out of the yard and it tears the yard. And it costs thousands of dollars to rent a skid steer and get everything cleaned up and restored back to normal,” says Tom Christner, explaining the appeal of Trash Rocket. “You roll this up, you don't have that problem.”
The beauty of this product lies in the simplicity of the tool as a trash solution. As best said by Scott, “It's just an easy way to get the debris out.”
