In an episode of Roofing Road Trips®, Heidi J. Ellsworth sits down with Mike Vaughn from DaVinci Roofscapes and Landon Coggins from Apex Homes to talk about the future of composite roofing tiles and how adding these products to a contractor's offerings can significantly help their business.
The conversation around composite roofing materials is shifting, with industry leaders recognizing the benefits they offer. Landon notes, “The stigma that I would say composite has had over the years is dying off a little bit. A big part of that is, for example, DaVinci using 100% virgin resins and no recycled content for consistency in their product.”
He also highlights the financial advantages, noting homeowners can replace their roof with DaVinci products at similar or even lower costs while “[Getting] a lot more lifecycle out of it.” Mike adds, "It's going to be the last roof that you're going to put on your house," stressing the appeal of these materials to homeowners, designers, architects and contractors. Together, their insights share a compelling case for composite roofing solutions.
These experts also discuss the importance of performance in the decision-making process for homeowners. As Landon says, “Performance is also a critical factor.” Mike agrees, pointing out, “That's where we're seeing the most traction...when homeowners see the performance we can deliver, I think it makes them feel very good about the purchase.”
When comparing traditional roofing options with newer materials, considerations such as durability, performance and maintenance requirements come to mind. Mike explains, “Everyone knows about asphalt; it's always going to be a good option. However, there isn't a significant difference between asphalt companies. When a contractor installs a DaVinci roof, they can point to that roof, they can market that project and that's going to absolutely help them sell their next job.”
