In an episode of MetalTalk™, Heidi J. Ellsworth sat down with experts from MetalForming to discuss how their cutting-edge metal fabrication technology is shaping the future of the industry. The conversation featured guests from MetalForming’s leadership team: Stephen Gosk, president and CEO; Chad Rowe, business development director; David Prokop, executive vice president of precision sales; and Martin König, executive vice president of operations. The group discussed the evolution of metal forming machinery over the years and and the important role of precision technology in modern metal fabrication.
Stephen shared the story of how MetalForming’s journey began over 25 years ago, founded by Geoff Stone with a vision to introduce innovative technology to the architectural fabrication space. By first bringing metal folding technology to the market through partnerships with brands such as Jorns and Schechtl, MetalForming set out to solve the challenges fabricators faced. Since then, the company has expanded its product offerings, adding new technologies to meet the growing needs of its customers. “Over time [we] added additional lines that were synergistic in the space, both in coil processing as well as roll forming, to make up essentially what MetalForming is today. Customers can come to us as a partner that can solve their issues and needs,” Stephen shared.
One of MetalForming’s most notable innovations is its development of rotating clamping beams. This technology is changing the way fabricators approach metal bending. These beams provide a level of precision and flexibility previously unseen in the industry, enabling fabricators to take on complex designs and deliver better results with increased efficiency. David explained, “Our rotating clamping beam allows for the use of various height tools but it’s much more than just that. We’ve created a multi-stage rotating clamping beam that can swing out of the way and integrate with our folding beam. This feature is a breakthrough in the metal bending process.”
The ability to advance this technology to such a level, according to David, is something only a company like Schröder can offer. Their expertise in control and drive capabilities makes the rotating clamping beam a game-changer for fabricators. David said, “Taking an existing, very well-known and understood feature, the rotating clamping beam and advancing it to a level that only a company that has the control capabilities and the drive capabilities as Schroeder can do.”
Chad added, “There's a much larger shift where people want to go to a single source for all of their goods.” With MetalForming’s precision tools, the company became that single source, offering not only cutting-edge technology but a reliable partner for fabricators. Finally, Martin summed up the company’s dedication, saying, “Everybody at MetalForming understands the machine down and the urgency. Constantly watching and we try to move mountains if we have to, if a machine is down.”
