It’s tradeshow season — make sure not to miss the Florida's Association of Roofing Professionals’ (FRSA) 102nd convention and expo! To share a bit about what to expect on what is FRSA’ biggest show yet, President Les Sims stopped by for an episode of Roofing Road Trips® with Megan Ellsworth. Les described the event as two-fold, “Contractors have two unique opportunities. Educational training with industry-specific seminars and walking the expo floor, speaking with exhibitors to learn about new products and services.”
Both of these areas are constantly evolving as the industry does. The educational portion of the conference has always stood out to Les. He recalled a story from one of his first FRSA shows, explaining how he attended a seminar knowing next to nothing about the industry. Through that, he met what he described as “titans of the industry.” And it was these people that he credits for 15 years of mentorship and support throughout his industry journey. As Les said, “It started right there in that seminar, with me not really knowing what I was being exposed to. You can't buy that. There's not a dollar amount on that.”
And the show’s incredible experiences aren’t limited to the classroom! Those who explore the show floor can expect to find some of the newest technology designed to increase contractors’ efficiency. Les elaborated, "This includes website development, estimating, business management software, smartphone apps that can track project cost and timelines and cloud-based apps.” Beyond just that, there are opportunities on the expo floor to meet teams who can help with things like marketing and branding.
