John Kenney is a deeply experienced roofing professional, having spent his entire career in roofing. He recently made the move from working as a contractor to working for contractors when he decided to join Trent Cotney’s team at Cotney Construction Law (CCL) and Cotney Consulting Group (CCG).
At CCL, John serves as the Chief Operating Officer and Technical Director. He makes sure that the business is running smoothly and is the ‘answer guy’ should one of the firm’s attorneys need guidance on a technical issue related to roofing. He shared with Heidi that CCG is “a really great thing that we have started.” CCG assists contractors in all aspects of their business, providing analysis, training, estimating training, software integration assistance and more.
At a time when contractors are having to make major adjustments in the way they work to meet safety and CDC guidelines for operating during a pandemic, the launch of CCG comes at the right time. John shares with Heidi, “We're finding different questions in different areas, but it's hard on a lot of people out there and we think it's going to get harder, even though we all stay optimistic, but we've been through a lot with this shutdown and it's going to have its effects one way or the other. And our goal is just to make sure we can get as many people through this and come out the other side even better than the way they went into it.”
Heidi points out that John has a long and distinguished career, having been through the gas shortages of the 1970s, the September 11 terrorist attacks, the recession and more. This is one podcast you will want to tune in for as John shares his experiences, how the businesses made it through trying times and his love for all things related to the history of the roofing industry.
