The Operations Technology Talk Forum is a great place to talk with peers and experts; it's a lovely online community to learn and discuss technology in the industry. Plenty of posts discuss new processes and technology implemented and economic predictions for how the virus has affected construction.
The forum has recently focused on COVID's effect on how we operate our business administratively and operationally. Everyone has been discussing their insights into how the construction backlog is shrinking worldwide, emphasizing how globalization demands a new concern for local and world recessions. "COVID-19 has exposed the vulnerabilities of complex global supply chains built on lean manufacturing principles, and construction is not exempt," says John Kenney, chief operating officer and technical director for Cotney Construction Law (CCL) and CEO of Cotney Consulting Group.
Generally, the community on Operations Technology Talk comes to the forum for Johns's intelligent analysis and economic outlook. John is "a firm believer in unmanipulated data." He gives straightforward advice to the forum about the future of 2021: "Regardless of what the outcome turns out to be, all data points to a global recession of some magnitude. I have been recommending to our clients, if they have it done so, to do a full evaluation of their companies' operations. The analysis should cover all weaknesses, vulnerabilities, and strongpoints. By planning and properly scaling your business, you will be well prepared for any economic outcome," says John.
There are also forums more focused on general technology talk, like CRM's and client tracking, which has revealed weak points in technology systems and how industry technologies can improve.
The forum has been an excellent place for insights and analysis. Members on the forum have even been able to request Coffee Conversations on the subjects discussed, with expedient response to the feedback. The Forum leader John has posted, "It is great to see everyone participating in these forums."
