What’s the Deal With Roof and Wall Acoustics?

Rockwool RLW
April 20, 2022 at 12:00 p.m.

By Lauren White, RCS Editor.

Understand the role fibrous insulation plays in roofs and walls to mitigate noise.

With the Read, Listen, Watch® (RLW) initiative, RoofersCoffeeShop® has made it easier than ever for members of the roofing and construction industries to learn how they want, when they want.  Whether you want to read a transcript, listen to a podcast or watch a webinar, the Coffee Shop has made it possible for you to learn your way.

In an upcoming RLW, All About Roof and Wall Acoustics, Heidi J. Ellsworth will be visiting with Antoine Habellion, the head of technical for ROCKWOOL North America.  Join them on April 27, 2022 at 11 a.m. PT, to learn more about roof and wall acoustics and stone wool insulation from the ROCKWOOL experts.

Antoine previously worked in Paris, France as a building science engineer for ROCKWOOL France.  As a building science professional, Antoine works directly with architects, engineers, design consultants and contractors.  He has a master's degree in civil engineering and an advanced master's degree in building science.

In this RLW, Antoine will share how noise negatively affects human health by causing hearing loss, reduced productivity and physical and psychological stress.  He will also touch on ways to mitigate noise, such as through sound blockage and absorption through insulation.

But who could benefit from noise reduction in their buildings?  Everyone!  Schools, hospitals, residential homes, and especially those near airports and highways that are exposed to constant noise.

Fibrous insulation, like ROCKWOOL, which is volcanic rock that has been transformed into stone wool, has insulation and acoustic performance capabilities to diminish noise.  Stone wool is the ideal insulating material from the roof to façade and everything in between.

Learn more from Antoine about acoustic requirements in different building codes and what standards are nowadays.  Additionally, you’ll be guided to a variety of resources that are available to you regarding acoustics and how you can meet those requirements successfully.

Register today for this informative RLW about roof and wall acoustics and get your most pressing questions about fibrous insulation answered.
