Exploring the growing world of spray foam roofing

We talk with Will Lorenz about the growth of the spray foam roofing industry and the upcoming SprayFoam 2024 Convention and Expo. 

The spray foam sector of the roofing industry has been steadily growing over the past few years. Spray foam roofing is emerging as an economical and energy efficient choice for building owners, so more contractors are looking to offer it. In a recent podcast with Will Lorenz, president of General Coatings, we learned about this growing industry and the Spray Polyurethane Foam Alliance’s (SPFA) upcoming SprayFoam 2024 Convention and Expo. 

In the podcast, Will outlines for us exactly what spray foam roofing is and why the market for it is growing steadily. Spray foam provides a seamless monolithic waterproof roof system that can save building owners money on energy costs. And it’s not just used for small scale roofing projects. One major project that used a General Coatings spray foam roof is the recent construction of the Sphere in Las Vegas. 

“Several years ago, they needed a great roofing system to waterproof and insulate it, and they needed something that could be available and perform,” Will said. “Spray foam was readily available, and we were fortunate that the design team, we and our contractor partners, chose spray foam as the material to put on there and the installation went great, and it's been a success.” 

During the podcast, Will recommends any contractor who wants to learn more about spray foam roofing should visit the 2024 SprayFoam Convention and Expo. The show will take place in Las Vegas on March 3-6.
