Since it was established in the early 1990s, METALCON has been the only annual trade show and conference devoted to the metal industry. They are the largest international event for this industry and the show is guided by three core components: education, exhibits and interactve learning opportunities. But even though the show itself isn’t happening until October 30, 2024, METALCON is still supporting these goals with online education and learning opportunities.
One example of this is their ongoing Business Strategies series. This series is a collection of webinars taught by experts in the industry and designed to help professionals in the metal industry learn strategies to maximize their team’s time and their company’s money. A recent release in this series was a webinar hosted by the Coffee Shops’ own Karen Edwards!
In the webinar titled, “The state of the metal building erecting industry,” Karen interviewed Bobby Mesmer, the CEO of RMG Erectors. The duo discussed what is happening in the metal building world today and how the metal erecting industry is making waves. One of the big things that they discussed was the future of the industry and how education is tied to growth. Bobby explained, “A lot of [architects and engineers] don't have an understanding of the capabilities of what these buildings can do and what they can be used for. So, we have to do a better job at [sharing and educating] and that will help increase those numbers.” They then went further into depth about the capabilities of the industry and how metal erecting is more than just a box.
Attendees of this webinar were able to earn 1.0 AIA LU HSW credit or certification of completion. For those watching it on-demand, you can fill out a form and still earn the credit or certification.
