The Future of Sales and Technology

Leap Sales and Technology
September 7, 2021 at 3:00 p.m.

By Cass Jacoby, RCS Reporter.

Patrick Fingles speaks to how technology attracts younger generations to sales, as well as homeowners to businesses.

In a Roofing Road Trips podcast, Heidi J. Ellsworth sits down virtually with the CEO of Leap, Patrick Fingles, to discuss how contractors are adapting to a post-COVID world and the ever-growing demand for refining processes utilizing technology.

Patrick has been a leader in the home improvement industry for nearly two decades. He is the co-owner and CEO of Nu Look Home Design, and co-founded Leap in 2016. Leap is leading the industry in in-home sales technology that spans the selling process from end to end.

Patrick started his career at 23. He talks with Heidi about the process of discovering his knack for sales at such a young age and how he applies this to when he hires the next generation of roofing salespeople. “It's like I was walking around for 23 years, I had no idea what sales were. I had no idea that I would be good at it," says Patrick. “We do interviews all the time with young salespeople who don't know whether they'd be good at it or not and I say, ‘You're going to learn a lot about yourself.’"

Staying on the theme of the next generation coming in, the two turn their conversation towards how technology attracts younger generations and elevates the sales process.

“I think it's going to be a debate of how fast [technology] is going to move,” says Patrick. “Everybody's using technology in some capacity." He emphasizes that the adoption of technology gives a major edge to your company.

“What's going to happen is as companies come in and they get three estimates and one company is massively adopting technology and providing that experience for the customer and the other company is not, that price variable or gap is going to have to get even bigger," says Patrick. “Eventually you start to feel left out. I think you're going to have to get on board sooner or later.”
