In Season 4, Episode 15 of Roofing Road Trips, Heidi J. Ellsworth sits with Corynn Sheridan, the global marketing director at DuPont™ Tedlar® and Tara Faulkner, business development manager at Metal Alliance. They discuss Tedlar®’s PVF film, which is a durable film that can be adhered to practically anything to give it an extra layer of protection.
According to Corynn, the Tedlar® PVF film has been used in “solar panels, cars, walls of hospitals, hotels, restaurants, the outside of sports domes and stadiums, graphic signage, and more. So basically anywhere you need that additional layer of protection and cleanability against high traffic areas, harsh cleaners like bleach and acetone or against extreme weather conditions.” DuPont™ Tedlar® offers UV protection, preventing chalking and fade over decades, and corrosion resistance in even the most extreme environments. This protects the building against a plethora of other issues that the outside of a building can face.
DuPont™ Tedlar® has proven its worth as it has lasted on various types of metal buildings for two, three and even upwards of five decades. Not only does the product last, but it looks as though it is brand new, no matter where it is or how long it has been on the building.
As a way to provide this high-performing film to the metal roofing industry, DuPont™ Tedlar® film is pre-applied to metal panels for metal roofers and suppliers, in place of a paint. This film is tested in extreme conditions and is a cost-effective option. Tara shared, “Our Tedlar® panels are high velocity hurricane zone tested, and they're a comparable cost to existing aluminum products already on the market. So it really makes them a viable choice and an excellent value for the metal roofing market currently.” The products are now moving into the Caribbean to continue delivering value to buildings and hotels that are directly next to the ocean.
