Taking the guesswork out of warranty applications

Mule hide Taking the guesswork out of warranty applications
December 15, 2024 at 6:00 p.m.

By Emma Peterson.

Learn how Mule-Hide's warranty portal empowers contractors and simplifies warranties.

Getting warranties is incredibly important for both building owners and contractors comfort and security, however applying for them can be a time-consuming and frustrating process. Traditionally, to get covered by a warranty, contractors need to submit a paper application, get it reviewed by a design department, get them to a technical inspector and bring the technical inspector to their jobsite — and hope that there were no further steps and papers needed. In this episode of Roofing Road Trips®, Heidi J. Ellsworth sat down with David Phillip and Joe Landmichl of Mule-Hide Products to talk about how their new warranty portal is smoothing out the struggles in this process.

What the new warranty portal from Mule-Hide does is simplify this process. Joe explained, “For contractors, when you first log onto the portal, we have a subset of categories that you're going to see, needing inspection, needing completion date, things like paying your invoice.” This makes it incredibly simple to keep track of and stay on top of every part of the application process of getting a warranty. David shared a little of what it looks like when you start filling out the forms, saying, “We've taken the application component and we basically have turned it into something like a TurboTax interview where you put your information in to see what kind of warranty is best for you. So things like, ‘I have this product, I have this component, I have these things. I ultimately want to get to this point in the warranty process where I can do a twenty-year warranty.’” Once the form has that information, the portal will then guide the contractor through the next steps of the warranty process.

Through all of these processes and parts of the warranty portal, Mule-Hide's goal is to keep the contractor in the loop. Joe explained, “One of the things we heard from our contractors, which was a pain point, was, ‘Where is my application? Where do I sit?’ I mean imagine if you're even applying for a home loan. Banks don't even do that to tell you where you sit. And so we are working to be so transparent with this new system, not only showing where you are but also what your next steps are.”
