Installing roof coatings during the winter can be tricky, as many coating systems cannot be installed when it’s cold. Plus, there’s the added risk of disturbing building tenants due to some coatings’ strong odor. That’s why Tremco has developed their AlphaGuard™ FC LO liquid-applied system to allow for contractors to still complete commercial roofing work during the winter months.
AlphaGuard FC LO is a low-odor, fast curing coating that can be installed in sub-freezing temperatures. It is made from a modified polyurethane methacrylate waterproofing resin that can be used to restore or repair a variety of roofing substrates. It's approved for use on concrete, smooth BUR, single-ply, modified bitumen (MB) granule and MB-SBS smooth roofs.
If the roof you are working on needs a membrane, Tremco has also released an AlphaGuard FC LO Liquid Applied Roofing Membrane that offers many of the same benefits as the coating. It is a high-performing, low-odor modified polyurethane methacrylate resin membrane that can also be installed in cold conditions. This membrane can be installed directly onto concrete roof decks, or it can be used to restore BUR or single-ply roofs.
When installed correctly, the AlphaGuard FC LO creates a beautiful white surface that is highly reflective. It's catalyzed curing technology makes it waterproof in just 30 minutes and it can be walked on after two hours. Since it is low odor, it’s highly recommended for roofing jobs on schools or hospitals. Plus, you’ll save money on labor costs as it requires fewer steps and materials than other liquid applied systems. It doesn’t even need an additional topcoat!
