Spray Foam is Economical AND Sustainable

General Coatings Podcast with Will Lorenz
March 21, 2023 at 6:00 p.m.

By Yvette Cruz.

Building owners are opting for solutions that save energy and extend their roof life, and spray foam is the solution.

In Season Five, Episode Six of Roofing Road Trips, Heidi J. Ellsworth discusses with Will Lorenz, the newly appointed president of General Coatings and Everroof and the immediate past president of the RCMA, the economic and sustainable benefits of spray foam roofing.

General Coatings is a manufacturer of spray foam roofing while Everroof is a brand that focuses on restoration and maintenance coatings for various roofing materials. With an emphasis on quality that lasts, General Coatings provides a roofing solution that won’t break the bank. Will mentions, “Economic times are a little challenging. People are making decisions about what they're going to do on their investment in their roof. They're going to decide whether they're going to tear off and start over or whether or not they can find a solution that saves them energy and waterproofs their roof and extends the life.”

Buildings are now being constructed with durability in mind. Spray foam “is one of those systems where if you put it down, the coating on top of it is the wear surface. And so, as it wears down due to UV and so forth, you can then extend the life of it again by recoating over it, a very cost-effective way to move forward,” according to Will.

Spray foam and roof coatings not only keep roofing materials out of landfills, but they help extend the life of a roof. This helps the building owner save money and is a great alternative when other materials are difficult to find. Conventions such as the International Roofing Expo (IRE), are some of the best ways to educate and expose resources to one another.

Will continues, “We feel that education and training are the important things for us to do.” It’s exciting to see what products will be released in the future and see Everroof and General Coatings at upcoming shows.

And now, you can access high-quality roof coating training. Enter the contest for your chance to win roof coating training from RCMA! Send a photo of yourself listening to the podcast with Will Lorenz and you'll be entered to win!
