RoofersCoffeeShop® has made it easier than ever for members of the roofing and construction industries to learn how they want, when they want, where they want with their Read, Listen, Watch (RLW) initiative. Whether you want to read a transcript, listen to a podcast or watch a webinar, the Coffee Shop has made it possible for you to learn your way.
In the upcoming RLW, join host Heidi J. Ellsworth as she sits down with Jennifer Ford-Smith of Johns Manville and John Esbenshade of the National Roofing Contractors Association (NRCA) as they recount their recent experience at the 2023 SkillsUSA competition. Each year this national competition brings together students from across the country to compete in various trade skills.
This year’s SkillsUSA competition was significant in that it was the first time that commercial roofing was featured as a challenge category. Representatives from across the roofing industry attended the competition to represent the roofing trade and to show support for the young minds who are eager to pursue a career in the roofing trade.
Join in as Heidi, Jennifer and John share their highlights from the event and the positive impact this new competition category will have on the next generation of roofers. They will discuss the history and origin story of the competition, the process participants go through from regional to national competition levels and how certain roofing skills play a role in the commercial roofing challenge.
