Roofer profile: Tara and Tim Webster, Trafton Roofing & Repair Service

Roofer profile: Tara and Tim Webster, Trafton Roofing & Repair Service
August 6, 2024 at 12:00 p.m.

By Rocky Mountain Snow Guards.

Tara and Tim Webster are the fourth owners of Trafton Roofing & Repair Services in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

Started in 1946, each set of owners before them ran Trafton Roofing & Repair as a family roofing business. Small and focused. Built on referrals and repeat business. And that’s just how the Websters like it. They specialize in being the local roofing company that people can trust and building on the foundation of a business started almost 80 years ago.

Q: How long have you folks been the co-owners of Trafton Roofing & Repair Services?

A: We’re coming up on our 10-year anniversary in 2025. Tara started working for the company in 2012. A few years later we bought it out when the owners were ready to retire.

Q: What’s your business base like?

A: We focus on El Paso and Teller Counties in Colorado. Right now we’re doing about 60% residential roofing and 40% commercial… but that changes a bit with the seasons.

Q: What’s the most important philosophy you bring to your business?

A: We customize a project to the needs of the client. Every roof is unique. Using that philosophy, we always present options to a homeowner or property owner. We don’t try to “cookie cutter” our work. We take the time to provide different aesthetic and cost options to our customers.

Q: In Colorado you’re in a situation with regular snowfall. What kind of snow retention systems are you recommending?

A: Sometimes we suggest locally owned metal fabricator-built systems for projects on a lower end budget. When there’s more funds to deal with and someone is looking for a really nice looking system we’ll contact Rocky Mountain Snow Guards to get a proposal. That’s especially the case when we’re installing a slick roofing product, like metal or a composite like DaVinci. Those types of roofing materials really need snow guards or fences.

Q: What keeps you coming back to Rocky Mountain Snow Guards?

A: We’re roofers. We use the resources available to us. The free architectural snow plan services available from Rocky Mountain Snow Guards are good for my clients. Plus, we’ve gotten top-notch service in the past from Ariel Preuitt, their customer experience manager, who works on the plans and from Neil Dehne, in Outside Sales. They’re continually there for us and for our clients.

Actually, Neil is my backbone. He’s part of our company’s support system. He’ll do anything for us from coming to talk to our clients one-on-one to baking killer oatmeal cookies! In the long run, having people like that you can depend on is one of the most important things that a company can offer us as we continue to grow our business.
