Kansas City brothers Brian and Eric Fidler teamed up in 2016 to form Fidler on the Roof KC with the intention of providing clients with rapid response, quality products and excellent workmanship. Along the way they developed their Equipter New Roof, No Mess system for capturing debris before it hits the ground, exceeding their customers’ expectations. They also leaned on their Kansas City neighbors, DaVinci Roofscapes, for quality composite roofing products.

Q: What makes your company recommend DaVinci products over competitive composite products?

A: Simply put, DaVinci slate and shake look great and hold up over the long haul. We’re also happy to recommend a local Kansas City area manufacturer with whom we have a longstanding and productive relationship.

Most of our clients are not educated in roofing or construction. They look to us as the experts. In the same way, we look to DaVinci to manufacture elite roofing materials so we can focus on our work and never have to worry about the quality of the roofing materials.

Q: How are composite roofing projects helping grow your business?

A: While many homeowners dream of a quarried-stone roof or wooden shake shingles, a few realities can put those materials out of reach. Many roof infrastructures cannot support the weight of quarried stone. And, wooden shingles are not permissible in some areas with high wildfire risks or HOA restrictions. Another hurdle is that these materials are out of the reach of some clients’ budgets.

By offering DaVinci synthetic slate and shake roofing, we open new worlds of possibilities that overcome all these obstacles. In addition, the cosmetic value of DaVinci composite roofing never disappoints our customers. These high-end products are often installed on upscale homes or estates where the roof is prominent and lends beauty to the home.

Q: How have DaVinci products helped increase sales for your company?

A: Installing DaVinci products means we don’t have to go back and fix what’s broken because the material is defective. DaVinci products come out of the factory ready for roofs, and — in our experience — there is no need to look through the rear-view mirror. The DaVinci materials are durable and ready for whatever Mother Nature can throw at them.

Q: Some roofers say that sample tiles “close the sale.” How many DaVinci sales do you feel you close once homeowners see the product samples… and why do you think this happens?

A: When demonstrating DaVinci products, at least 75% of our clients choose them over another manufacturer. The idea of synthetic slate or wood is a new concept to many homeowners, so a little education and introduction only makes sense.

When clients see the product and hold it in their hands, the lightbulb often switches on. We find that “seeing is believing” when it comes to DaVinci products. Their quality and artistic nuances are apparent when comparing them to other products.

Q: How do you leverage the Lifetime Limited Material Warranty offered by DaVinci as a selling tool?

A: Clients see that the product looks great and our recommendation is also important to them. For the homeowner, knowing that there is a lifetime warranty is the icing on the cake. It provides reassurance that they are making the right decision and investment.
