Minnesota veteran groups and local contractor partner with GAF to replace veteran’s roof

Minnesota veteran groups and local contractor partner with GAF to replace veteran’s roof
December 13, 2024 at 7:00 p.m.

GAF worked with local organizations and companies to donate and install a new roof for a veteran in need in Robbinsdale, Minnesota.

GAF recently came together with The Contractors Association of Minnesota (CAM), Disabled American Veterans Foundation of Minnesota (DAV) and Four Seasons Energy Efficient Roofing, Inc. to donate and install a new roof for a veteran in need in Robbinsdale, Minnesota. The veteran, Arthur Patterson, has over 30 years of service, including 14 years in active federal service with the 82nd Airborne Division, the 173rd Airborne Brigade and the 212th OTSB supporting SOF worldwide.

Arthur’s 37-year-old roof was in major despair - experiencing leaks, shingle damage and more. Suffering with health challenges, Arthur and his family struggled to keep up with medical expenses and demanding work schedules. Given this, Arthur reached out for support in repairing and restoring his roof ahead of the winter season.

CAM quickly accepted the project, partnering with DAV and Four Seasons Roofing, who donated all labor for this project, as well as GAF, North America’s largest roofing and waterproofing manufacturer, who donated all roofing materials. The Four Seasons Roofing crew was made up of many fellow veterans who were determined to ensure Patterson’s roof was safe in order to give him and his family much needed peace of mind. The crew also cleaned and repaired the chimney ahead of the upcoming cold Minnesota winter.

This collaboration is part of GAF’s social impact initiative, GAF Community Matters, which is focused on making a positive difference as neighbors and partners in the community by leveraging roofing expertise, resources and products to help build resilient communities.

“As a veteran, this project meant a lot to me and my crew, and we’re thrilled to have played a critical role in replacing this roof and helping out a local family”, said Nick Moen, owner and CEO of Four Seasons Energy Efficient Roofing, Inc.

“We are a group of fellow veterans on a mission to make other veterans’ lives easier - and I’m really proud that we got to do that with this roof replacement project”, said Lauri Brooke, executive director of DAV.
