A.C.T Metal Deck Supply, headquartered in Aurora, Illinois, has become the largest distributor of metal decking in the U.S. and makes sure that it shares its success by giving back to the communities it serves.
In 2016, A.C.T. Metal Deck Supply supported two charitable efforts. The first, Fight for Air Climb, was in memory of a former co-worker, Todd Ardoin, who passed away in August 2014 of lung cancer. The company formed a team to participate in the American Lung Association’s Fight for Air Climb, a vertical road race up 31 floors (680 steps) to the top of the Oakbrook Center Tower in Oak Brook, Illinois. The money raised supports research, education and patient programs to help the millions of Americans impacted by asthma, COPD, lung cancer, air pollution and other lung diseases.
Team Todd consisted of 23 participants who raised $8,798. Their donations earned them three awards from the American Lung Association: second place Top Fundraising Team Challenge, second place Corporate Team Fundraising Challenge and third place Corporate Team Challenge of six minutes, 29 seconds.
The second charitable event was for the benefit of Hesed House, a comprehensive homeless resource center located in Aurora. Hesed House is the second largest homeless shelter in Illinois. The facility is staffed with highly skilled professionals who collaborate to provide the tools necessary to help individuals and families overcome homelessness.
The A.C.T. Metal Deck Supply Team shopped for food and supplies and then cooked and served meals for about 125 people. Those who participated also had an opportunity to dine with the residents. “It was such a rewarding experience,” said Carm Termini, A.C.T. marketing manager.
In addition to volunteering in the kitchen, during the Christmas holiday, A.C.T. Metal Deck Supply collects items from the Hesed House Immediate Needs list.
