In a new episode of Roofing Road Trips®, Heidi J. Ellsworth sat down with the Director of IKO Industry’s Marketing Team, Jack Gottesman, to see how IKO leads the way with innovation and style in 2024. Looking back at 2024, Jack identified IKO’s work with color as one of their big successes. Last year saw the release of a new color in IKO’s Dynasty line, called matte black. It has been hugely successful, as Jack explained, “The orders are already through the roof. We are seeing this as the market needed this and the market wanted this, and we are thrilled with what the market's response has been.”
In addition to developing new colors and mixes for the roof, IKO is innovating in how color is showcased to homeowners. Jack explained, “We realized two things. People come to our website, contractors come to our website to learn about who we are and to learn about our products, but homeowners also are doing more and more in the research department than they ever have.” This is what inspired IKO to start developing their new residential-focused website, which is planned to launch at the 2025 International Roofing Expo at the end of February!
Jack shared a bit of what can be expected on this website, saying, “This thing is incredible. It's going to be an industry setter on how both contractors and homeowners interact with roofing manufacturers' websites. It is the most technologically advanced, with fun, intuitive AI video and more.” The incorporation of video on the new website feels like a natural growth and progression from IKO’s pioneering work with their YouTube channel. Jack explained, “We've been the pioneer in launching 30 second YouTube clips of each of our colors so that homeowners can really see what it looks like for real.” These videos feature over 30 beautiful homes across North America so people can see how IKO products integrate with things like real siding and backyards.
