Keeping a finger on the pulse of the industry

SOPREMA Pulse of the Industry
June 21, 2024 at 6:00 a.m.

By Emma Peterson.

In a competitive field, learn how RESISTO sets themselves apart from the crowd.

Standing out in the construction industry can be difficult given the number of competitors on the market. But RESISTO, a division of SOPREMA, has held their place since the 1990s. In this episode of Roofing Road Trips®, Heidi J. Ellsworth spoke to Chad VanderWeide, RESISTO’s national sales manager to discuss how they have set themselves apart and maintained their spot in the industry over the years.

RESISTO began in Quebec, Canada in 1996 and began as an adaption of SOPREMA products for residential applications. Chad explained, “We offer roofing underlayments, we have different tapes for roofing, different tapes for walls, we have base sheets, we have SA cap and then we have actually some commercial products that are really light commercial that we're able to sell as well.”

Looking at their success over the years, Chad cites a lot of it to the people on his team. He elaborated, “First and foremost, people buy from people. So, the team I've got does a phenomenal job and we wouldn't be anywhere without them.” Backing up this amazing team is a quality product line that keeps contractors safe as they work. Chad provided some of the feedback he had heard: “He said your stuff is easy to walk on. We know it sticks. We don't have any issues. It doesn't rip or tear easily.”

Beyond quality people and products, Chad and RESISTO work hard to keep an eye on a variety of markets to make sure they are serving them as best as possible and adapting as needed. Chad explained one of the ways this looks, sharing, "Before we launch products, we find some contractors in given markets and say, ‘Hey, do you want to demo this for us?’” By listening to those with their boots on the roof and the job site, RESISTO can ensure they are staying ahead of the competition and giving contractors the products they need on a day-to-day basis.
