Championing purpose-driven roofing

Championing purpose-driven roofing
March 30, 2025 at 3:00 p.m.

By Jesse Sanchez.

How purpose-driven leadership is transforming the roofing industry from the inside out.

Charles Antis isn’t your typical roofing executive — and he doesn’t want to be. In this episode of People Make Roofing, hosted by Heidi J. Ellsworth and Luke McCormack, the founder of Antis Roofing & Waterproofing made a powerful case for purpose over profit in the construction industry. From the very start, Charles set the tone: “We exist to keep families safe and dry. And when you know why you exist, you're able to really perform in this beautiful trade as old as time.”

This episode — the second appearance for Charles on the show — focused heavily on his mission-first leadership approach, particularly during times of crisis. When wildfires recently devastated parts of Los Angeles, Charles’ team responded by bringing food to displaced families and supporting first responders. “There's this stress and this dishevelment and the fear where not only do they not know where their next meal is coming from, they don't know where they're going to sleep at night,” he said. “You hear their stories. And I feel bad that I’m not there.”

Charles’ emotional recollection of a moment during an NBA game in San Francisco — where fans held placards for fire victims — offered a powerful reflection on his commitment to service. “They gave every 50,000 people inside that stadium in the Chase arena, they gave him a chance to write down the family of the fire victim that they know lost their home,” he recalled. “And it was so touching to see the Jumbotron in that moment when we lifted up our placards and I couldn't wait to do it because that was the moment I was giving back something.”

His message: Roofing isn’t just about shingles and waterproofing. It’s about dignity, legacy and service.

This passion for people — not just profit — is woven through the culture at Antis Roofing. And it’s not accidental. Charles encourages companies to embrace what he calls “big intention” as a guiding principle. That, he argues, is what will keep the roofing industry not only afloat but thriving.
