General Contractor Walt Tomala, president of TNT General Contractors, starts this video demo by showing us how the roll size and tack on the outside makes it ideal for carrying to the rooftop without slipping. “We want to make sure that products are comfortable and easy to use,” said Tomala. “This Protec™ product is actually lighter than most products on the market, fits nicely on the shoulder, and doesn’t slide because there’s enough tack on the back of it that it grips your shoulder just like it grips the roof deck when we are laying it out.”
Tomala also had praise for how easy the product is to install not only because of its gripping power but because it is so clearly marked. “Everything is labeled on the roll. As you roll it out you can see every fastening mark as well as the overlap lines so all of our installers will be on the exact same page each and every time,” he explained.
Other features that Tomala said his installer really like about the product is the grip. When a feeder is shooting shingles down to the team to install, he said the grip grabs the shingles, slows them down and keeps them from landing on installers’ fingers. “I cannot stress enough how pleased I am with this Protec™ product and its performance,” said Tomala. “It is by far the best synthetic underlayment that TNT has ever used.” Watch Tomala’s video demo here.
