Folsom Fire Station Protected With Fluropon® Coating

Sherwin-Williams Folsom Fire Station
January 3, 2022 at 9:00 a.m.

By Evelyn Witterholt, RCS Reporter.

The roof on this California fire station is durable and resistant to color fading.

Folsom Fire Station 39 in Folsom, California is conveniently placed next to the Sierra Nevada mountains, an area prone to wildfires. With that in mind, the structure needs to be durable in case fire damage occurs.

Calpo, Hom and Dong Architects designed the building with durability and longevity in mind. They built the 10,000 square-foot fire station with three bays that contain a fire engine, brush engine and ambulance.

The Craftsman style of the single-story building is achieved using a combination of a stone and metal wall panel exterior, with gable roofs that offer broad overhangs. Metal Sales supplied the wall and roof panels for the station, coating the material in the Fluropon® finish from Sherwin-Williams in Slate Grey and Patriot Red colors. The exterior metal panels and high-performance coatings will deliver the durability to maintain the fire station long into the future.
