In the most recent episode of Roofing Road Trips®, Megan Ellsworth sits down with ARMA’s Executive Vice President, Reed Hitchcock, and Director of Inside Sales for GAF, Lynn Picone, to talk about the Asphalt Roofing Manufacturer’s Association’s (ARMA) 2024 Excellence in Asphalt Roofing Awards. You won’t want to miss this discussion to learn more about the award and see how many benefits there are from receiving it!
Lynn tells us what the award is: “It really recognizes the benefits of asphaltic installations for both flat or low-slope applications and steep-slow or shingle applications. We really want to extol the benefits of durability, affordability, reliability, versatility and it provides an outlet for contractors to share the great work they do and for that work to be recognized and celebrated in the industry.” They are also meant to educate and inform property owners – homeowners and commercial owners can learn about the benefits and see the value of asphaltic roofing.
Reed adds, “It was originally intended to draw attention not only to the industry, but to exemplary installations overall. Asphalt gets sort of a bad rap sometimes... People don’t necessarily see the industry as innovative or creative, and we wanted to highlight using these tried-and-true materials, but in really challenging jobs or in beautiful jobs and highlighting, again, the durability and the quality of the system.”
While there is a small cash award for receiving the award, you are also recognized and celebrated during the Internation Roofing Expo (IRE) and get continued exposure on the ARMA website and social media for about 18 months after winning. Reed explains, “We like to think it adds to their ability not only to promote their business, but the credibility of their business recognized by the industry, and as a swath of the industry, not just some guy at ARMA that says, ‘That’s a pretty roof.’”
