Boost your company growth through industry association membership

MCA Boost your company growth through industry association membership
June 1, 2024 at 9:00 a.m.

By Anna Lockhart.

Learn how your company, employees and brand can grow through industry association membership.

In a recent MetalTalk™ webinar, “The Importance of Associations in the Metal Industry and How to Get Involved,” host Karen Edwards sat down with Metal Construction Association (MCA) board member Lee Ann Slattery to discuss the latest industry updates and the benefits of participating in industry associations.

Joining industry associations can be incredibly beneficial for professionals looking to boost their company, employee and brand growth. For businesses and contractors already involved with industry organizations, Lee Ann advised promoting that information. “When it comes to company branding, I think it's important for companies to let their customers and prospective customers know the different associations that they're involved in and what they support,” she explained. “I think it makes a difference in your customer's mind to know that it's not just about selling our products and making a profit, even though that's important. It's also becoming entrenched in the industry as a whole and trying to better the industry.”

Industry-related organizations and associations provide businesses with the added credibility and look of professionalism and countless educational opportunities for members to take advantage of. MCA, for example, provides their members with plenty of resources and opportunities to build on their existing knowledge and skills through programs like their online university.

Lee Ann emphasized the impact joining associations like the MCA has had on her networking opportunities. “I think that it's a great place to help develop leadership skills outside of your company and that's important. It's sometimes a lot easier to talk to others that you don't work with and learn from others outside of the work environment. So, I find that valuable and just expanding your professional network,” she shared. “LinkedIn is a great tool, and we all use it, but just in person getting to know people and not just expanding your professional network, but a lot of those people over the years have also become personal friends.”
