Bitec’s transformative journey to building success

Bitec Transformative Journey POTW
April 24, 2024 at 3:00 a.m.

By Jonny Suchor.

Tune in to the latest discussion about Bitec’s recent product line expansions and their goal to serve a greater portion of the roofing industry.

In the latest episode of Roofing Road Trips®, hosted by Karen Edwards, Joel Shealey, the president of Bitec, shared exciting insights about the company's evolution and its new product offerings.

Since taking over leadership at Bitec at the beginning of the year, John has spearheaded the company's sales, marketing and operational efforts. Under Joel’s leadership, Bitec has planned to expand its product lines and enhance its market presence. "We joked, I think in the very first interview we did where we said it was going to be Bitec 2.0... we've added a tremendous amount of products and offerings to our lineup," Joel explained.

Notably, Bitec has introduced a full coating line including SEBS, silicone acrylics, and urethanes, alongside insulation, fasteners and cover boards. In a significant move to broaden its scope, Bitec recently acquired Viking Products Group, adding PVC and single-ply systems to their offerings.

John discussed the strategic direction Bitec is taking to provide comprehensive solutions from the deck up, aiming to supply everything from adhesives to coatings. "It doesn't matter if it's adhesives or coatings, we can provide it to anybody and everybody," he said. This highlights the company's commitment to being a one-stop-shop for roofing needs.

One of Bitec's new products is the Stronghold line, which includes PVC and KE membranes. "PVC is a very good single-ply membrane. It's got one of the best fire ratings out there. It's very chemical resistant, UV resistant," Joel pointed out. He also mentioned the practical applications of the product, explaining how it fits into different roofing systems to enhance energy efficiency and sustainability.

Reflecting on the industry's reception to Bitec 2.0, Joel expressed optimism about the company's direction. "The feedback has been incredible. Our sales team has been doing a tremendous job out there," he said.

Through strategic acquisitions, product expansion and a focus on complete roofing solutions, Joel Shealey's leadership is setting Bitec on a path to significant growth and innovation in the roofing industry.
