They have been involved as volunteer instructors and as a sponsor in the annual Let’s Build Construction Camp for Girls since its inception in 2017. This program, a free week-long camp, is designed for high school age girls to explore the construction trades, architecture, engineering and construction manufacturing through hands-on experiences and field trips. It was developed four years ago as a partnership between the Greater Lehigh Valley CSI chapter (Construction Specifications Institute) and the Eastern PA ABC chapter (Associated Builders & Contractors). Campers develop greater self-esteem by learning skills to solve challenging projects and successfully complete them. The camp also provides inspiration and mentoring for girls to understand they have a place in the construction industry and they can become successful leaders. This results in developing a stronger workforce for the future of the construction industry.
In 2015, the Da Vinci Science Center in Allentown, Pennsylvania established the Women in Science & Engineering (WISE) Initiative as part of its broader commitment to support aspiring young girls and female practicing STEM professionals. ATAS is a sponsor of this initiative and has some women employees involved in that program.
An American, family-owned company with global reach, ATAS has a reputation built on 57 years of quality craftsmanship and knowledgeable staff. They have been honored with a Top Workplaces award for the past five years and will continue in their efforts toward diversity and inclusion of their team members, including women.
