The Southern California Council of National Women in Roofing (NWIR) completed its first community outreach event for the Alexandria House in Los Angeles. Founded in 1996, Alexandria House is a non-profit transitional residence and house of hospitality providing safe and supportive housing for women and children in the process of moving from emergency shelter to permanent housing.
The residence, play house, and back house were in need of roofing repairs so the Southern California Chapter pulled together resources, donations and labor to complete the repairs to the roofs.
Repair day was greatly successful and featured a BBQ for all the workers, staff and residents of the Alexandria House. The project was only possible through the generosity of many individuals and companies including Supreme Roofing, L.A Roofing, Bravo Roofing, Lomanco, Malarkey Roofing Products, CertainTeed, In-o-vate Manufacturing Rapid Ridge, Tropical Roofing Products and MB Technology. National Women in Roofing (NWIR) is a volunteer-based organization with the goal to provide networking, recruiting, mentoring and education for women roofing professionals. NWIR will strive to provide an opportunity for women and men, new and established, to find ongoing success working together in the roofing industry.
NWIR embraces the following goals:
