A fresh approach to roofing education

MRA - A fresh approach to roofing education
February 8, 2025 at 9:00 a.m.

By Jesse Sanchez.

A newly redesigned platform makes it easier than ever for homeowners to access clear, concise information about roofing options and connect with local experts.

The Metal Roofing Alliance (MRA) is taking strides to empower homeowners with their latest website overhaul, as highlighted in this episode of MetalCast™, hosted by Karen Edwards. The episode featured Renee Ramey, executive director of the MRA, who provided an in-depth look at the updates designed to streamline the user experience and promote the benefits of metal roofing.

“We went through identifying the most important or the most straightforward information that we could provide on various topics,” said Renee, describing the meticulous process behind the redesign. She noted that the focus was on clarity and accessibility, ensuring homeowners could easily find and digest critical information about metal roofing.

Founded in 1998, the MRA has been on a mission to educate homeowners about the advantages of metal roofing, dispel myths and connect them with trusted professionals. The newly revamped website builds on this mission, addressing previous challenges in navigating the wealth of resources available.

Among the key upgrades, Renee highlighted a restructured navigation menu and a refined “Find a Professional” tool. The latter allows homeowners to locate nearby MRA-approved contractors with a simple input of their ZIP code. She shared, "At the end of the day, we kept the Find a Professional form that we have, which allows a homeowner to go in, enter their name, their email and their zip code and as soon as they hit submit, it pulls up a list of all the MRA members that are within a certain mile radius of their home."

The MRA’s efforts appear to be paying off. Renee shared that the metal roofing market share in the re-roof segment has grown from 3% at the organization’s inception to over 17% today. She credits this surge partly to the MRA’s education initiatives.

With its refreshed look and robust resources, the website also provides contractors with tools to enhance their outreach. From downloadable social media assets to comprehensive guides, members can access a wealth of materials to connect with potential clients more effectively.
