100 Years of Roofing Respect, Ethics and Professionalism in the Florida Roofing Community

Roofing Road Trips 100 years of roofing respect
July 19, 2022 at 6:00 p.m.

By Cass Jacoby.

In a new RCS podcast, Joe Byrne talks about celebrating 100 years of the FRSA and the work the association has done to become a shining example for the industry.

In a new Roofing Road Trip episode, Heidi Ellsworth travels to Florida to visit with Joe Byrne of BRI Roof Consulting to talk about the 100-year anniversary of the Florida Roofing and Sheet Metal Contractors Association (FRSA)’s annual convention.

Founded in 1922, the association has been bringing together contractors as well as businesses with related interests. The values of the association were rooted in professionalism and integrity, and a hundred years later, the FRSA has stayed true to their convictions to do right by consumers and contractors alike.

“It's really an honor to be the 100th president of this association. I've been involved with the FRSA since the eighties,” says Joe. “Not a day that went by in all my years with the FRSA that I didn't learn something or meet a new friend or a contractor. And it seems like the last 100 years, I think we've done that in that whole period of time.”

The FRSA is well known as being a leading voice, not just in Florida but in the nation, on the importance of licensing, doing great work to inform the general public of only doing business with certified licensed and insured roofing professionals.

“The licensing of Florida sets us apart,” says Joe. “When roofers come in from out of state, they don't really know our rules, regulations, or codes, and that's a bit of a problem... I can't stress it more, that you really need to be licensed.”

The 100-year celebration, taking place in Daytona Beach, Florida where the first convention took place. promises to honor the spirit of ethics and professionalism that the FRSA is built upon. “We have a lot of CE credit courses for your continuing education. We have some great speakers and we have a lot of good programs that John Hellein put together ,” says Joe.  “Not only are you going to be catching the convention where you can walk the floor and see all the great things that are being showcased there, then you can go back and you can get a CU credit for your license.”

The event promises to be an epic three day event packed with educational speaking sessions, networking events, sports tournaments, auctions and more. You won’t want to miss out on this spectacular hundredth birthday for the FRSA!

Listen to the podcast to learn more about the FRSA and how they are celebrating 100 years of Florida roofing excellence.
