I used also vented copper. It`s a high quality roof.
ok.....now im feeling like I took hook, line & sinker.....
wywoody Said: Martin, I assume the tile was packed in to a shipping container. Did they deliver the container right to the site or to a roofing distributer who then delivered it?
Hi good morning
the supplier delivered with a flat bed trailer from the hobour to jobsite. Sometimes it`s different.
Martin, It is no different here in the U.S. All those tasks must be accomplished....Every small contratactor is a consultant, salesman, estimator, accountant, project manager, roofer, etc....I was simply attempting to fully understand the dynamics based on your statements....I still don't understand the "not my price" statement....
Nice job though....To reiterate; How fortunate to have the opportunity to install a tile roof the way a tile roof was originaaly intended to be installed, as opposed to what the application process has degredated to, here in the U.S....Netting a good years' salary on one small job, (36 sq residence), is an added bonus!
Martin I understand you perfectly. You are a master craftsman, an artesian something extremely rare in this neck of the world. I have artisan friends who share the same pride in details. Your principles of design, attention to detail show a pride that befits a marvelously well-made roofing system. Thank you for the pictures. That which is beautiful is increasingly difficult to come by. Very nice very nice indeed. B) :) :) B)
TomB Said: Martin....You cant be both....Apparently, you were the roofing contractor on the project.
I suppose, one could consider contractors, consultants of a sort, on every job they do....However, by consulatant, I was referring to a third-party/objective consultant.
Consultants as referred to typicall, are hired by owners to perform various tasks, from writing the spec through project close-out, to merely periodic inspecting the work of a contractor.
I somehow got the imnpression another roofing contractor was hired to do the work....Im still confudsed however with not my price statement, etc....(????)
Good morning,
I think you don`t understand this realy........!!!
I am a German Master Certified Roofer, in Germany it`s standart to learn and do BOTH !!!!! I do BOTH !!!! jobs since 1983 in our own company in Germany. We don`t need a "salesman ", we don`t need an " estimator" in Germany, we do our measurements, estimates, invoices and working all by ourself. I have had in my company 4 certified workers and we worked all together.
Realy it`s standart in Germany to do it all.
Take care
Martin....

TomB Said: I think we have a communication problem....
Why ????
Yes, I have done the roof and I was the consultat of this roof
Martin
I think we have a communication problem....
TomB Said: Martin,So....Im perplexed.....Did you do the roof, or were you a consultant on the project?
Both, I took all the measurements for the German clay tiles, copper material, underlayment and all the other stoff. We got the material all from Germany. I did this job with the homeowner and his brothers. So I was the worker and consultant. Some of the roofers in Bosten provide 120000-160000 only for the labor to do the job includet scaffolding.
This is my job here in USA and Canada and maybe if you need also help you can order my person take a look at my web site
Take care Martin http://germanroofconsulting.com/page2.php
Martin,
So....I'm perplexed.....Did you do the roof, or were you a consultant on the project?
wywoody Said: Do you have a form to shape them in a shop or do you have to use the installed trim as a form? Is the trim mitre cap on the dormer done the same?
I cut a round sheet copper , across 35" ,and used my solder tools and different other tools. The cap on the dormer is a 3way clay tile HHR (hipp, hipp, ridge)
wywoody Said: Martin, is that painted lead on top of the turret trim mitres? Do you paint it onsite?
Nooooooooooooooooooooooo, it`s copper !!!!!!!!!!!!!
tinner666 Said: Verified; Is that a 12ga break?
If i remember correctly it was..may have been 10ga. .before we bought it..(2005) it was used by a AC contractor. had a lil twist in it.. Thats what i was concentrating on was i had to bend to a point then flex one end with my hand.
Verified; Is that a 12ga break?
That's about how I figure costs too, OS. When all is said and done, from first visit, to getting the order ready, to tear-off, delivery, shop work, etc, it adds up. I figure quality of install beats speed any day. Doing whatever it takes to be correct the first time, and bidding it that way prevents shortcuts, and hasty decisions. And some of these projects may have some pita built-in for a reason too. The job in question had a consultant included in it's cost, in case nobody noticed. Fact is, in this economy, many folks are starting to appreciate quality over all other options. It's how my clients feel.
