Indiana Metal’s innovative wood grain steel is making waves across the construction industry, blending the aesthetic allure of wood with the durability of steel. In this episode of MetalCast™, Jena Jackson, a representative from Indiana Metal, spoke on the growing popularity of this cutting-edge material and its transformative potential for various projects across the industry.
At the heart of its appeal is the high-definition (HD) printing process that brings the intricate details of wood to life on the steel panels. “It is done on an HD printer. It's the first HD print line in North America and it's a great application. It only repeats every 32 feet, so that is game changing,” Jena explained. This level of realism, combined with a Class 4 impact-resistant steel foundation, makes the product ideal for homeowners seeking low-maintenance options without sacrificing style.
Beyond aesthetics, the material’s practical benefits are gaining traction. Jena highlighted its 20-year warranty and resistance to fading, noting, “It comes with a 20-year manufacturer vertical paint warranty, HD coating warranty. It's all Class 4 impact resistant steel, so it's going to hold up in the elements. You have that 20-year warranty against fade protection.” This feature has attracted attention from regions prone to wildfires, where traditional wood can be a fire hazard.
The conversation also explored the product’s versatility, showcasing its use in both small-scale accents and grand architectural projects. A standout example is its role in a historic castle restoration along the Ohio River. The owner, a YouTuber known as NYAMillennial, opted for the barnwood finish to complement the structure’s rustic charm. Jena said, “He's restoring it to be an Airbnb, and he found us on, I believe it was TikTok... He went with barnwood, but he's been putting it on this castle, and it overlooks the Ohio River. It's beautiful and he just loves it.”
