In a time of grief, Joann Phillips, widow of U.S. Army Veteran Wayne Phillips, received a new roof courtesy of the Owens Corning Roof Deployment Project and in collaboration with Garcia Roofing and Habitat for Humanity.
For qualifying individuals, Habitat for Humanity runs a special program called Critical Home Repair, which is designed to assist homeowners who have low incomes. This program is designed to help these homeowners stay in their houses by making necessary repairs. Some of the repairs they focus on include fixing roofs, building wheelchair ramps, and providing support for heating and air conditioning systems. By offering these services, Habitat for Humanity aims to improve the living conditions of those in need and ensure they can continue to enjoy their homes without the burden of repair expenses. “We work with homeowners who are in the neighborhoods where we’re already building and identify those who may need repairs,” Habitat for Humanity’s Jennifer Lightfoot told Unfiltered with Kiran.
Owens Corning continues to be thrilled to give back to those who served our country. Rick Burnett of Owens Corning shared, “We’re very proud of being able to give back to our veterans who served our country. We hope this roof replacement will protect Miss Phillips and her family just like they protected us.”
Since 2016, the Owens Corning Roof Deployment Project has been dedicated to supporting military families and personnel by providing them with brand-new roofs. This remarkable initiative has successfully delivered the gift of a secure and reliable roof to a total of 425 deserving military households. With the aim of honoring the sacrifices made by these brave individuals, the project ensures that they have a safe and comfortable place to call home. By replacing aging or damaged roofs, the Owens Corning Roof Deployment Project not only improves the overall quality of life for these military families but also offers them peace of mind knowing that their homes are protected from the elements. This ongoing effort stands as a testament to the unwavering commitment of Owens Corning and its partners in supporting those who have served their country selflessly.
