Where is Your Office?

Roofing Roadtrip with Chuck
April 28, 2021 at 8:00 a.m.

By Colin Sheehan, RCS Reporter.

Solutions to paper pushing that will level up your productivity and create more free time.

Season 3, Episode 21 of Roofing Road Trips features Chuck Magee, CEO of Store Share Access (SSA) CAPP. Alongside host and RCS Partner, Heidi J. Ellsworth, Chuck talks about this software and marketing company’s offerings to contractors, including the opportunity to utilize online offices.

Chuck Magee had his start in the construction and real estate industry in 1993 when he and a current business partner opened a roofing company that provides lots of unique services to customers in the Baton Rouge area. A few years later, Chuck’s interests shifted from the construction side of the industry to the technological side.

“I came up with my first website idea in 1999, so that's how long I've been in the digital game. And the CRM, SSA, we came about with about eight years ago. So, all of this has been out there for quite a while,” said Chuck.

SSA allows contractors to utilize virtual offices to minimize paper pushing, increase revenue, productivity and free time. Chuck developed this software for roofing contractors, especially smaller companies who he noticed were spending too much time doing paperwork that could be more efficiently handled through software.

Heidi and Chuck also discussed current digital trends in the roofing industry and what roofing contractors should look out for in the near future. Chuck mentioned an increase in contractors adopting technology into their business as well as an increase in contractors using online advertising.

“One of the things that I'm really noticing, especially since COVID, and it really drove everybody to try to go after fewer touch points. Even though in roofing, when you're wrapping up a deal, you want to go physically pick up that check and you want to talk to that homeowner, because you want to get that Google review and you want to get that referral,” said Chuck. “But the industry is coming to the fewer touch points. And that's one of the things that I really see the local contractor getting, is the fact that they really need to."

Another key concern Chuck brought to the table was Google’s oncoming algorithm updates, set to begin in May 2021.

"Google is making one of the larger Google algorithm updates that they've ever done. They gave everybody a year's notice, so this one's going to be a big one,” said Chuck. “It's going to really tank a lot of websites that quite possibly were doing well...people are going to look up and lose a lot of traffic, and they're not even going to know why.”

Listen to the entire podcast to hear more from Chuck and how your company can take advantage of the many benefits offered to contractors from SSA.
