Unveiling eco-friendly roofing solutions

Malarkey Unveiling eco-friendly roofing solutions
July 13, 2024 at 6:00 p.m.

By Jesse Sanchez.

Malarkey showcases innovation and sustainability at RCAW trade show.

At the recent Roofing Contractors Association of Washington’s (RCAW) trade show, Malarkey Roofing Products®, a leading name in roofing solutions, took center stage with their innovative products aimed at sustainability and performance. Hosted by Megan Elsworth, Megan spoke with Renee Williams and Kenji Kumai for the Coffee Conversations Live interview delving into Malarkey's latest developments and their impact on the roofing industry.

Renee Williams, discussing the turnout at the show, expressed positivity about the interest in Malarkey's offerings: "It's been a good turnout, a lot of people asking about our products and a lot of great conversations." This sentiment was echoed by Kenji Kumai, highlighting the enduring appeal of Malarkey's products and the curiosity they spark among contractors.

Malarkey's commitment to sustainability was a theme among the conversations on the trade show floor. Renee described their collaboration with 3M for integrating smog-reducing granules into their shingles: "For every 30 squares of roofing, there is a coating on the granules that attracts dirty air, and the process is essentially planting two full-size trees - cleaning the air one roof at a time." This innovation underscores Malarkey's commitment both to environmental stewardship and product performance.

Malarkey's products are designed with longevity and resilience in mind. Kenji spoke about their NEX polymer-modified asphalt, which enhances granular retention and offers Class A fire resistance, critical in regions prone to wildfires like the Northwest.

Throughout the rest of the year, Malarkey aims to promote their smog-reducing granules and their sustainable practices. Renee noted, "We also use tire polymer and plastic polymers which essentially diverts five tires and 3,200 plastic grocery bags from landfills for every 30 squares of roofing."

To delve deeper into Malarkey's sustainable innovations and their impact on the roofing landscape, listen to the full interview on Coffee Conversations Live.
