GCP Applied Technologies (NYSE:GCP), a leading global provider of construction products technologies, is pleased to announce that the This Old House crew has again chosen its building materials for the renovation of the new home renovation project in Westerly Rhode Island, airing on the Emmy Award-winning TV series in October.
The series premiered October 3, 2019 (check local listings). The new season features the renovation of a 1940s ranch. GCP’s flagship product, GRACE ICE & WATER SHIELD® self-adhered roofing underlayment, and VYCOR® enV-S™ self-adhered weather-resistive barrier were used on the home to protect it from New England’s extreme weather. The episode that includes GCP’s products will air on PBS on October 17, 2019, episode number 1803/3903.
“We are proud that for the fourth consecutive year, This Old House chose GCP’s products,” said Greg Austin, Marketing Director for GCP Applied Technologies Specialty Building Materials. “It is an honor to have our GRACE ICE & WATER SHIELD® underlayment as well as our next generation of weather-resistive barriers, VYCOR® enV-S™, used by such a highly trusted brand and team of respected home renovation experts.”
GRACE ICE & WATER SHIELD®, the original self-adhered roofing underlayment, protects roofs from harsh weather such as wind-driven rain and ice dams. The underlayment seals around the fasteners used to attach the shingles, which helps prevent water buildup from leaking into the house. This premier underlayment also sticks to the roof deck to keep water from traveling under the underlayment and entering the house via a vulnerable roof deck joint.
GCP’s advanced alternative to house wraps, VYCOR® enV-S™ weather barrier, represents the latest in residential building science, creating an airtight yet breathable home. It is designed to provide superior weather protection and improved energy performance. The membrane brings together the weather protection benefits of a self-adhered membrane with the breathability of traditional house wraps. The unique adhesive coating bonds strongly to the sheathing, but remains vapor permeable. VYCOR® enV-S™ wall membrane resists damage in windy conditions, leading to a high-quality appearance along with less rework.
