Most roofing companies will wind up performing service on customers’ roofs, even if they are more focused on roof installations and replacements. While it often doesn’t offer as big of a paycheck, service is an invaluable way to ensure steady work and generate more leads. To talk about this, Chad Westbrook from Service Alignment stopped by The Coffee Shops for an interview. He explained that his job, which is helping companies streamline their service offerings, often starts more broadly.
There are three primary areas that Chad sees as the foundation of any business, which is sales, marketing and then service. He explained, “There's no business that exists without sales. You need marketing because you need leads to make sales. Then, service is the last thing that happens. This is where your sales team makes a promise and your service team must deliver on that promise. If they don't deliver on that promise, your sales team will never get the next opportunity and your sales will drop.”
Many companies place a lot of emphasis and focus on the first two foundations, sales and marketing, but Chad has found that service departments often need a little more attention. That’s why he created the 8 Figure Service division. He explained, “This is a road map that I've created throughout my 18 years of experience. It covers how you go from zero dollars to your first million and then your fifth million and your tenth, and so forth.” The core of this growth path is going back to those foundations and making sure they are as strong as possible.
Chad and Service Alignment actually just released a new website (www.servicealignment.com) that goes further in depth about this tool! On the website, it’s easy to learn more about the 8-Figure Service Division and how it helps commercial contractors gain “more private projects, higher profit margins and relationships that go well beyond price or the ability to meet a defined scheduled.” This is a great resource for anyone looking to use their time, energy and money more efficiently by starting or reorganizing their service divisions.
To learn even more about operating a great service division, you should consider attending ServiceCon 2025, hosted by Centerpoint Connect! This is two-day event that will be held from March 12 to March 14, 2025 in Houston, Texas and Chad will actually be their keynote speaker! His talk, “The Service Mindset,” focuses on how you can take your company’s service offerings to the next level through implementing it into the company culture.
