Have you registered for ServiceCon 2025 yet? If you’re looking to start or grow your service department, this is the conference you can’t afford to miss. Designed specifically for the commercial service space, ServiceCon brings together top industry experts for two days of learning, networking and actionable takeaways to implement in your business.
Join the biggest names in service from March 12-14, 2025, in Houston, Texas, and connect with like-minded contractors who are committed to delivering great service. One of this year’s speakers is Bryan Mitchell, a seasoned industry expert with decades of experience in commercial roofing. We recently spoke with Bryan about his upcoming presentation and how ServiceCon can help contractors unlock new areas of growth.
With a career spanning back to the 1990s, Bryan has been deeply embedded in the commercial roofing industry. He started as a commercial reroof estimator, helping a friend refine business development strategies and establish an estimating department. By the time he retired from the company four years ago, they were generating $65 million annually in reroofs and nearly $13 million per year in service alone.
Now working as a consultant, Bryan helps companies structure and scale their service departments efficiently. He understands the common pitfalls contractors face when entering the service space and emphasizes the importance of process-driven growth.
Bryan is passionate about the value of ServiceCon, particularly the opportunity to learn from industry leaders who have successfully built thriving service divisions. “Among the speakers that will be there, I think we’ve trained every single successful service company in the U.S.,” Bryan shared. “You’re going to get great, practical information. But just as important, you’ll build connections with other contractors. One of the greatest rewards in my business is seeing contractors help each other out.”
His upcoming presentation will tackle a unique question: “What does Pareto have to do with the roofing industry?” We were curious – so we asked him for a sneak peek. He explained that Vilfredo Pareto, an Italian economist and intellectual, developed the 80/20 rule, now known as the Pareto principle.
“Pareto was a remarkable guy, and his principle directly relates to growing a successful business and service department,” Bryan explained. “You’ll have to attend my presentation to find out how.”
One of the biggest challenges in roofing service is scaling the business effectively. According to Bryan, “People don’t stay out of service because they don’t know how to fix a roof. But a lot of contractors who do get into this space go about it the wrong way. It’s very hard to scale a business that just fixes leaks.”
At ServiceCon 2025, Bryan will share his ideas on structuring a service department for sustainable growth and implementing processes that set your business up for continued success.
