Sometimes when innovations are introduced into an industry or sector, there can be a fear that it will replace existing professionals’ jobs. But there are actually many cases where that fear is not only unfounded but completely inverse from the truth, such as that of Equipter. In this episode of Roofing Road Trips®, Karen Edwards sat down with Sam Beiler from Equipter, John Kenney from Cotney Consulting Group and Jason Reisman of Eustis Roofing to explore what role Equipter’s innovative tools and equipment play in the roofing industry.
Equipter is well known for their self-propelled roofing equipment. Probably their most well-known innovation is the Equipter 4000, which is a drivable debris container that incorporates a scissor lift for greater efficiency on the jobsite. Sam elaborated, “For your average roofing project, the Equipter 4000 is perfect. It’s just under six foot wide, so you can take it to the backyard of most residential properties. It has super wide tires that you're not leaving huge ruts in the lawn. But basically the idea of the equipment is it's a drivable dumpster that you can lift up to the eave of the roof.”
In addition to this, Equipter has a variety of other products for whatever a jobsite might throw at a you. This includes the Equipter 5400, a mobile crane, and the Tow-A-Lift, a towable forklift. Jason and his team are huge fans of Equipter, using a variety of their products in the field regularly. He explained, “When you look at Equipter, there are several models and I have used every one of them. I even had the smaller ones that you can take around a community building where their pools are at, and you can get through the three-foot gates. I've used their 7000 model to save three weeks on a commercial job so we can get up to the height of it. The 4000 is typically the one that we buy for every crew, because it makes jobs much quicker.”
The key thing to know about all of Equipter’s products is that they are tools that allow your team to do more jobs, not replacements for professionals. John broke it down, saying, “In simple terms, if you have 50 people within your company and you could put some equipment on and the same 50 people those five crews can become seven crews or eight crews, that's a positive, a huge return on investment right there.” Jason added to that, sharing, “The Equipter is going to save a ton of time on the jobsite, but that doesn't mean we go home earlier. That means we go to the next job. And by doing that, you're going to be much more effective as a business and that’ll reflect for the paycheck of an employee.”
