In this Roofing Road Trips® podcast episode, Heidi J. Ellsworth visits with Katy Pusch of Leap. They discuss the new LeapPay feature and how it helps contractors with their invoices while on the go, simplifying the online payment process.
One major aspect of the transaction between roofers and customers is the payment process. At this point, customers personally view the organizational competency of a roofing company through their payment plan. This can influence whether a customer will continue to use their services. Katy explains, “Having that professional image, part of it starts with not writing down banking information on a scrap of paper as you're leaving to try to get this payment or not asking the customer to pay you on Venmo or just not following some of these less professional.”
Constant advancements are being made in the roofing industry to help every contractor’s business thrive. Moving to a simple payment process, like LeapPay, increases organization and efficiency. “Leap is really trying to help empower our industry to advance in, which is to continue to have this professional conduct and appearance with how we interact with homeowners,” says Katy. “I think it's so important for your business and the way that you present yourself competitively, versus any other remodeling contractors available in your space.” To both customers and competitors, an online payment process helps a roofing company stand out.
When it comes to customers, they often prefer to handle payment in a manner that looks professional and reliable. “What we've seen in the industry is that it is a very polished presentation and really the expectation that consumers have when they're interacting with other businesses, that you can offer something like a payment portal that they feel confident in the security of their financial information,” says Katy.
When constant invoices and payments begin to pile up, it is easy to get overwhelmed with the amount of information to process. The heart of roofing is about helping others, and the lack of a solid payment plan can take away from the customer experience. "We know that you didn't start a roofing business to sift through receipts all day,” says Katy. “We want to take care of everything associated with those payments from the processing to dispute so that you can focus on your business and what matters.”
