Sika Acquires American Hydrotech, Inc.

Sika acquires American Hydrotech, Inc., the North American leader in green roofs.

Sika has acquired American Hydrotech Inc. in the USA and its affiliate Hydrotech Membrane Corporation in Canada. Hydrotech is a recognized leader in the development, production, and distribution of premium waterproofing and roofing products. For more than 50 years, the company’s flagship waterproofing membrane product, Monolithic Membrane 6125®, has kept more than two billion square feet of roof decks, plazas, foundation walls and reflecting pools watertight on structures in 83 countries worldwide. Hydrotech also offers a variety of drainage, insulation, and protection materials for single-source assemblies such as The Ultimate Assembly® for plazas and roof terraces as well as the Garden Roof® Assembly, a unique, lightweight assembly for transforming underutilized roofs and plazas into beautiful landscaped and recreational environments. 

With this acquisition, Sika will become the number one supplier of green roofs in North America. Furthermore, Sika gains a new growth platform with the expanded offering of complete roofing and waterproofing systems. The two companies have similar corporate cultures with highly motivated people and a strong focus on sustainable, reliable, long-lasting, solutions and customer relationships, and therefore fit together perfectly.
