Technology in the roofing industry has changed so much over the last ten years, and Matthew McDaniel and Travis Harvego of Roofle wanted to be a part of the revolution. “There were new technologies that were coming into the industry, Travis tells hosts Heidi J. Ellsworth on a new episode of Roofing Road Trips. He recalls himself thinking, "Hey, we want to be a part of this.” And so they thought of different ways of how to do it.
“One thing that came up was the in-person sale,” Travis said, “What does that look like? Can that be something that can be brought to the e-commerce type of space where the consumers can be more in control?” And that’s exactly what they accomplished, as customers were “essentially able to finalize their buying experience online,” Travis continued.
From their launch date in July of 2020 to 2021 they did $4 million in sales which was a very impressive feat. However, in 2022, they decided to switch their business model to selling directly to the contractor and this has been what Heidi calls a “game changer.” The product is called Roof Quote PRO. This isn’t just a resource for roofers either, it’s been a resource for contractors of all backgrounds.
“We wanted to build this for contractors of all shapes and sizes,” said Matthew, “And I think this is a very fitting tool for, like you said, just contractors of different backgrounds with different service offerings, the whole nine yards.”
Roof Quote PRO is saving contractors a fortune in labor costs and saving time too. “Back in the day, you would never have thought that you wouldn't be measuring by hand, or that you wouldn't keep paper files and so on,” said Matthew. “So technology has always been a catalyst for change in this industry. And we just took that next evolutionary step of the online sale. I don't have to send out a sales rep and burn two hours and burn a measurement and all this expended energy and cost."
