Roofing contractors saved $500,000 in free freight shipping in 2023 with Rocky Mountain Snow Guards

Rocky Mountain Snow Guards roofing contractors saved $500,000 in free freight shipping in 2023
May 20, 2024 at 1:00 p.m.

Rocky Mountain Snow Guards leads the way in customer savings and reliable packaging for heavy snow retention systems.

Half a million dollars. That’s how much Rocky Mountain Snow Guards customers saved in shipping costs of snow guards and fence-style snow retention systems in 2023. That’s because the manufacturer provides free shipping of its products in the 48 contiguous United States.

“We’re dedicated to doing the most we can to help our contractors’ profitability,” says Lars Walberg, president of Rocky Mountain Snow Guards out of Colorado. “The last thing they need is an unexpected freight charge on top of the cost of the products.”

Walberg estimates that the company shipped 10,000+ packages last year via ground transportation. Product is shipped one-day in the state of Colorado and two- to three-days in the region. Cross country the shipping time is four- to five-days. Many of these orders are so large they require a forklift to offload and ship via LTL freight.

No LTL freight damage in 7 years

The steel, aluminum and copper snow retention systems sold by Rocky Mountain Snow Guards are not lightweight items to ship. Yet the company adds to the weight by using enhanced packaging to protect the products.

“We haven’t had an LTL freight damage issue in more than seven years,” says Walberg. “In the rare instances of UPS or FedEx damage, we always make it right with our customers.

“All our boxes are double-walled cardboard with high weight ratings. Boxes are always filled with bubble plastic to assure products don’t connect with each other inside the boxes. All boxes are taped with reinforced packaging tape on seams and corners for added protection while in transit.

“We purchase our own new rigid pallets to guarantee that the pallets make it to the customer without damage. And, we strap boxes to pallets in both directions with multiple straps to make certain the boxes don’t shift on the pallets.

“The team takes great pride in the snow retention products we produce and in the way we ship them to our customers. In turn, our customers really appreciate the free shipping service we provide.”
