In a recent episode of Roofing Road Trips, host Heidi J. Ellsworth sat down with Jennifer George, executive director of the Arizona Roofing Contractors Association (ARCA), to discuss the dynamic work that this trade association is doing.
With over 250 members, primarily roofing contractors, ARCA has been a key player in the industry since its inception in 1969. Jennifer spoke about the association's emphasis on safety training, educational seminars and community events aimed at professional growth. In her words, "Our top goal is to keep everyone on the roof safe... as well as cultivate ways to increase the workforce, and I know that's probably nationwide, but in Arizona we have a hard time finding the workforce and then keeping it.”
ARCA's work during the pandemic has been commendable, providing over 50 free safety training classes and expanding its academy to enhance members' product and material knowledge. Collaboration with institutions like ASU and the Roofing Alliance demonstrates their dedication to education.
The association's philanthropic efforts are also noteworthy. From scholarships to partnerships with Veteran Affairs and at-risk youth nonprofits, ARCA is committed to giving back to the community and shaping the future of the industry.
New partnerships like the Let's Build Girls Camp, introducing young females to the roofing industry, and collaboration with the National Roofing Contractors Association (NRCA) for SkillsUSA competition, showcase ARCA's commitment to expanding horizons.
Jennifer also emphasized membership involvement, networking and education, encouraging companies to see associations like ARCA as platforms for growth. Whether a contractor, supplier or an associate member, there's much to learn and gain from ARCA's innovative efforts.
