Roofing industry professionals are invited to donate and participate.

The Roofing Alliance announces a special initiative during the National Roofing Contractors Association’s Fall Committee Meetings to raise additional funds for the Melvin Kruger Scholarship Fund and invites the industry to participate.

“We will be fundraising during the NRCA’s Fall Committee Meetings, but for members who cannot attend, we want to offer a vehicle to participate in this important scholarship initiative,” stated Kelly Van Winkle, Roofing Alliance president. “Providing scholarship opportunities for the next generation is vital to the growth of our industry, and the Roofing Alliance is committed to supporting as many students as we can,” she added.

The Roofing Alliance’s Melvin Kruger Endowed Scholarship Program offers multiple scholarship opportunities. All scholarship categories are open to students of roofing industry companies, their spouses and their dependent children, construction management students enrolled in undergraduate level studies, and students enrolled in CTE programs or schools, regardless of industry affiliation, as long as they intend to pursue a career in the roofing or construction industries.

For more than 30 years, the Roofing Alliance has invested time and funds to help educate the roofing industry and its youth, and this has been made possible through the Melvin Kruger Endowed Scholarship Program. Named after Melvin Kruger, CEO of L.E. Schwartz & Son, Kruger also served as a former president of NRCA and the Roofing Alliance.

“A total of $65,000 was awarded in 2022 — $35,000 for new scholarships and an additional $30,000 for renewal scholarships,” stated Alison L. LaValley, CAE, Roofing Alliance executive director. “The Roofing Alliance leadership is very proud to support the roofing industry with these scholarship opportunities, which are in excess of $1 million dollars since inception,” LaValley added.

To donate please visit the Roofing Alliance website here. For more information on the Melvin Kruger Endowed Scholarship Program or information about the Roofing Alliance, please contact Alison L. LaValley, CAE, executive director, at alavalley@nrca.net.
