Project Profile - Roma High School’s Roof

METALCON Roma High School Roof
May 4, 2019 at 10:37 a.m.

By METALCON.

More than 2,300 squares of beautiful, red standing seam metal was installed on the school.

As featured in DesignandBuildwithMetal.com’s recent issue, instead of doing more “band-aid” fixes to Roma High School’s roof, the school board opted to do a full replacement of the original tile roof with 233,335 square feet of McElroy Metal’s 138T symmetrical standing seam metal roofing, factory-finished with a Brite Red PVDF paint. The roof re-cover at Roma High School in Roma, Texas, was a long time coming. Leaks at various transition points were causing excessive damage.

It was Amtech Solutions, a full-service design and restoration consulting firm, that determined and recommended a metal roofing solution. Mike Hovar, AIA, RRO, LEED AP, of Amtech remarked, “We talked about the advantages of metal as opposed to tile, how it would be easier to get a properly functioning roof and that it would be less expensive. It’s safe to say we helped steer them in that direction.”

Additionally, McElroy’s 238T symmetrical standing seam metal roofing was used to re-cover an existing R-panel section. Since 1963, McElroy Metal has served the construction industry with quality products and excellent customer service. The family owned components manufacturer, headquartered in Bossier City, Louisiana, has 13 manufacturing facilities across the United States. McElroy Metal has been a long-standing partner of the METALCON show and we look forward to welcoming them back to METALCON 2019 in Pittsburgh, PA in October. Plan to visit them in Booth #1740.
