Technology is continually improving and there is always some new tool on the market. But how do you know if it’s really worth it to get it for your company and team? In this episode of Roofing Road Trips®, Karen Edwards sat down with Sam Beiler, John Kenney and Jason Reisman to talk about return on investment with equipment like the Equipter 4000.
This 4000 is Equipter’s flagship product. Sam, who works for Equipter, shared a bit about how this product functions, saying, “The idea of the equipment is that it's a drivable dumpster that you can lift up to the eave of the roof.” This aims to solve the problem of needing to manually carry the shingles and other products/debris around the roof and down to the ground. Instead of a lot of back and forth and up and down, you can easily and directly get debris into the dumpster. Sam shared that this makes job sites increasingly efficient, saying, “It alone can increase your efficiency by 20 to 30% on most job sites because your crews are not double-handling material.”
Jason, who is the CEO for Eustis Roofing out of Orlando, Florida, has seen firsthand how investing in the right tools and equipment can help your business in multiple ways, but especially in productivity. He echoed Sam’s statistics, saying, “Equipter makes it a lot easier for the job site. It makes it more productive.” Not only does this help the team out in the field be more efficient, but it can help with recruiting as it shows a company’s investment in their people’s time, effort and skills. John, who is the CEO of Cotney Consulting Group, pointed out that being more productive on the job site is a huge factor for your bottom line. He gave an example, sharing, “Say you have 50 people within your company in five crews. If you could put some equipment on and the same 50 people now can become seven crews or eight crews, that's a positive, a huge return on investment right there.”
These types of investments can also act as sales points. Jason shared, “If you can talk on the fact that you're making the job site easier, more productive for the employee and you can kind of talk about that in some advertising, it's going to make homeowners want to buy from you because 98% of people work for somebody. So when you show that you're creating a workplace that's safe, more efficient, it shows your integrity.” John added to that point, “If I put on my homeowner hat, when I have something working around my house, I want a contractor who is going to be clean, respectful and doing something more innovative than just the average person.”
